The Agilent 1290 Infinity I HPLC G4226A Autosampler is engineered for high-speed, high-pressure liquid chromatography applications that require reliable sample handling and minimal carryover. The G4226A uses an X-Z-theta robotic transport mechanism driven by stepper motors and monitored by optical encoders to ensure precise positioning of the sampling arm for both vials and well plates. Samples are drawn into the needle by an integrated metering device and flushed directly onto the column through a controlled injection sequence. A vial and plate pusher mechanism stabilizes the sample container during needle withdrawal, supporting reliable operation when septa are used.
To reduce carryover, the autosampler incorporates a flow-through design that flushes the complete flow path with mobile phase after injection, along with a dedicated needle flush station that rinses the exterior of the needle using a peristaltic pump. A high-speed injection valve directs flow either through the autosampler or directly to the column, ensuring efficient sample transfer and clean system conditions between runs.
